About Me

Hello! My name is Sarah Ortiz. I live in the Vail Valley of Colorado with my husband and my sweet, fluffy pup named Cypress. Art and creativity were always at the forefront of my childhood as I grew up in a very crafty family, from my quilting grandmother and wood-working grandfather to my hand-make everything mom and fix-it dad and finally to my sewing sister, musical brother, and I, the painter. We were constantly making crafts, creating all gifts for family and friends, hanging our latest art on the fridge, sewing clothes, and spending as much time as possible outside in nature. Though, I must admit that art took a backseat to dance for many years of my life. My early journey leaned heavily towards the art of dance as that was my heart and soul from a young age all the way through high school, with some dabbling in college. During that time, I continued to create art as gifts for family and friends to celebrate birthdays, new births, and high school graduations, but I never considered that others in the world would appreciate what I was creating and would want to have a piece in their home. And that brings us to where we are today! I’m finally getting back to my creative roots and consistently making new pieces based on what brings me joy. It has been quite the journey and I am so excited to finally launch Sweet Roots Designs to share my love of art, nature, patterns, and color with the world. Welcome to my page and I’m so happy to have you following along for the ride!

When I’m not painting and creating, you can find me mostly outside or in the kitchen baking. I love to snowboard, mountain bike, hike, backpack, and climb the occasional rocks. Get outside and adventure!
